Kenny Thornsberry

Bio

Coach Thornsberry is a Bullitt East and University of Louisville Alumni and teaches math at Bullitt East. Coach Thornsberry has coached at several schools as an assistant including Spencer County High School, and a previous stent at Bullitt East. Coach Thornsberry has also received Head Coaching experience where he took over Nelson County High School for a brief two-season term in the mid 2010's before taking a break for several years and resuming teaching roles at Bullitt East.

In 2021, Coach Thornsberry returned to his coaching career under Head Coach Ethan Atchley in which he coached Tight Ends and Linebackers. In doing so, he helped the Chargers earn their first winning season and first playoff victory since 2014.

In 2022, Coach Thornsberry was promoted to Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator. Under Coach Thornsberry's leadership, the Charger's Defense would finish in the top 10 of points allowed per game, only giving up an average of 17.1 points per game against a difficult 6A Schedule. Additionally, the culture that Coach Thornsberry helped to build in the 2022 season would help the Chargers to their first ever State Championship in which Bullitt East would defeat powerhouse, Louisville Male 28-27.

In 2023, Coach Thornsberry's defense helped lead the Chargers to a 9-3 record and a 2nd round playoff finish. Bullitt East's defense ranked in the top 10 in class 6A of Kentucky in points allowed per game.
