Bio
Coach Mullins, a native of Cincinnati, is an alumni of Lakota East High School as well as Robert Morris University where he played Offensive Line at the D1 level. Coach Mullins originally started out in the private sector and worked in sales and eventually found his way into teaching and coaching and now teaches business at Bullitt East. Coach Mullins is currently serving the longest consecutive stent on the Bullitt East coaching staff having originally been hired by Head Coach Mark Sander in 2017. Coach Mullins was the offensive line coach under Sander and when Coach Atchley came on in 2019, he moved over to take control of the defensive line where he has been each year since.
Since taking over as the Defensive Line Coach, the defensive front has steadily gotten better each year ultimately culminating in helping the Chargers win their first State title in 2022. Under the leadership of Coach Mullins, the Chargers were able to finish number 8 in class 6A in 2022 in fewest rushing yards allowed each game. Bullitt East has also had multiple defensive linemen listed on the 6A district 4, all-district team and a member elected to the All-State team in 2022. Not to mention that under Mullins' tenure in the last four years, he has seen one DT earn a scholarship at the next level and currently has class of 2024 DE Isaiah Hare who just received his first D1 scholarship opportunity.
In 2022, Coach Mullins was also promoted to Special Teams Coordinator. In his first year with that role, the Chargers were able to name five special teams members to the All-District Team. The 2022 team had several kick returns for touchdowns including the game-clinching 99-yard return in the second round of the playoffs to beat a very powerful Manual team in the last minute of the game.
In 2023 Coach Mullins' defensive line proved dominant again while helping the Chargers get to a 9-3 record. Celebrating some individual success, Mullins was able to see Isaiah Hare earn back to back all-state selections and break the career sack record at Bullitt East High School with 18 career sacks.
